Tennessee, Arkansas baseball coaches have heated trade after series finals

It’s still regular season, but this weekend’s Arkansas-Tennessee series in Knoxville had the intensity of a Super Regional with Omaha on the line. The Arkansas No.1 managed to win the series with a 3-2 victory in Sunday’s rubber game. All three games were one-point decisions, with Arkansas overcoming a 5-0 first-inning deficit to win the opener 6-5 and Tennessee No.4 winning Game 2 8-7 on a Homer.
Baseball fans and members of the media around the world were taken aback by what happened after the weekend’s final as Dave Van Horn and Tony Vitello, a former DVH assistant, had a heated exchange.
Emily Proud and Trey Wallace captured clips from the initial exchange:
A “cat” is a nice way to put it… I love Vitello’s strategy of wearing the mask so that he looks one-sided. Genius. pic.twitter.com/YQYlIO13nY

The coaches then spoke to their team groups. After that, they had a one-on-one conversation. Ben McKee captured this conversation, noting that it didn’t end with a handshake:

Quite intense conversation that led the two coaches to walk away without a handshake. pic.twitter.com/aP5Cx4Y0o2

Vitello declined to go into details after the game, per Wes Rucker:
#Flights Coach Tony Vitelllo on post-game kerfuffle with Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn: There were things off the field I wanted to say. It’s probably more than I should say.

With the way these two teams play, it is possible that the Vols and Hogs have not finished fighting on the diamond and may meet again in the playoffs.
