State champions AC Flora and Gilbert rank first in latest SC Baseball Coaches Association poll | Colombia

While Class 4A champion AC Flora started the season at No. 1 in the SC Baseball Coaches Association rankings, eventual Class 3A champion Gilbert was unranked.

The two teams faced off in March in the Sandlapper Shootout Finals at Gilbert High School. The Falcons beat the Indians 12-0.

After winning state championships, Gilbert and AC Flora finished the season atop their respective rankings in the final SCBCA poll released Wednesday.

AC Flora went 8-0 in the playoffs winning the school’s seventh state title, while Gilbert went 7-1 winning their fifth state title.

A total of eight Midlands teams placed in the final standings.

Dutch Fork and Blythewood finished fifth and sixth respectively in class 5A. Lugoff-Elgin placed third and Airport fifth in Class 4A and state runner-up Andrew Jackson placed second and Gray Collegiate fifth in Class 2A.
