Noah Carter reveals insight into Dennis Gates’ recruiting tactics

It’s slow season for us Mizzou fans, but sometimes slow seasons are the most telling.

Speaking on an independent podcast yesterday, new Tiger Noah Carter discussed his commitment to Mizzou Hoops with a particular eye on Dennis Gates’ reaction when he found out Carter was committing. I’ll let you watch the clip for yourself.

It’s kind of refreshing to get a glimpse of the process, however small. Carter was one of the Tigers’ most famous engagements this year, so it makes sense that Gates would be very happy to have him on board. We also have confirmation that Gates is actually referring to his tweets as a bat signal. I can only imagine that means Drinkwitz is doing the same and both are trade tickets.

We also saw the staff offer another offer this weekend: a five-star recruit to the Class of 2025. Matt Harris explained why that’s important, even with players so far away.

It’s hard to imagine, but eventually this question of COVID-19 eligibility will be a thing of the past and rosters will open left and right. Get in with the best players early on and you’ll have a better chance of landing them later.

  • Eli Drinkwitz wants more conference games moving forward, citing the need for conference rivalries. At least that’s what he tells high school students who come to his camps.
  • Former Mizzou striker Yaya Keita is the latest of Cuonzo Martin’s former players to find a new home, and he’s opted for a former Tigers training partner.

Good luck, Jaya! We will support you!

  • Kelly Bryant, I SEE YOU HERE!

Mizzou’s former QB1 is having fun here, and I totally agree.
