How to get Isabelle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Isabelle, everyone’s favorite canine assistant, is in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You will need to spend time developing your deserted paradise to bring Isabelle to the island.

Depending on your attendance, you won’t see Isabelle until the eighth or ninth day. Luckily, it’s worth the wait, and you’ll unlock a number of other important things in the process.

Here’s how to get Isabelle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Get more animals in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The first step you will need to complete is twofold. You go gather more villagers (islanders?) to your colony of New Horizons and develop the Nook’s Cranny store.

Once you pay off your tent debt of 5,000 Nook Miles, Tom Nook gives you your first Nook Miles Ticket. you can spend 2,000 Nook Miles to get an extra one as well.

Nook Miles Tickets allow you to fly from Dodo Airport to a mysterious, random island. These are an absolute necessity for gathering resources, and you will sometimes come across a new animal face also.

If you find an animal there, talk to it until you can invite them back to your island.

By this time, you should already have unlocked the Museum/Blathers tent on the main island. The day after Blathers sets up his tent, talk to Timmy or Tommy Nookling in Resident Services.

They’ll ask for your help gathering materials to build the new Nook’s Cranny store, which means finding lots of wood and iron nuggets. You will be more likely to get the 30 iron nuggets needed on one of the random islands, so pull out the Nook Miles Tickets again, if you haven’t already acquired 30.

Preparing homes in New Horizons

The day after you finish collecting materials and choosing a location, Nook’s Cranny opens. If you’ve already recruited at least one islander, the daily Nook stream is interrupted by a call from someone who wants the island getaway package.

We have described what will happen next in our New Horizons scale guide, but here’s the gist. Nook needs your help setting it up three new house plots and get the houses furnished. You will make a bridge and find locations for the three houses.

After that, it’s up to you get them fully furnished. Nook provides you with the recipes you need for everything, but it will still take some work. Every house needs three indoor furniture and three outdoor furniture, and as usual, you’ll need a good supply of wood and iron nuggets, as well as some fruit.

Once you finish preparing all three houses, Nook rewards you with some Fencing and Fencing DIY Recipes. You don’t have to do anything with these now, but fences are useful for increasing your island’s development rating – more on that in our Island Designer app guide.

Improved services to residents and arrival of Isabelle

Once you have villagers/islanders for the three empty houses, Resident Services can upgrade. Luckily, you don’t have to do anything else for this upgrade. It still takes a few days.

Nook makes his usual daily announcement the day after houses are filled. This time, he says Resident Services is undergoing an overhaul. It is closed the next day for reconstruction and the like, and the next day this, Resident Services is located in the familiar City Hall building.

And Isabelle joins Tom Nook’s show that day.

Isabelle now takes care of daily announcements and you can talk to her inside Resident Services. She will look adorable, help with complaints, offer tips for island development, look adorable and help you change the tone of the town.
