Houston baseball coaches battle at Clear Lake High School

A Clear Lake High School baseball assistant coach has been placed on administrative leave following a reported physical altercation on campus Tuesday with another Falcon baseball staffer.

Falcons assistant baseball coach Reggie Rice was placed on leave Wednesday after the incident, which stemmed from an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.

No charges have yet been filed as a result of the event.

The other coach involved in the incident, who has not been identified, is at home recovering from injuries sustained in the incident.

The altercation happened Tuesday afternoon after baseball practice.

Clear Lake High School Principal David Drake sent the following letter to parents of Clear Lake High School students on Wednesday:

“At Clear Lake High School, we strive to model the behavior and core values ​​we expect of our students every day. It is in this spirit that I write to you (Wednesday).

“After baseball practice (Tuesday), two employees of Clear Lake High School had an argument and escalated into a physical altercation. The matter is being investigated at this time and disciplinary action will be administered, the optionally.

“The two employees are not currently at work. We do not know if the incident was witnessed by students.

“However, some parents of athletes were present.

“To those present, please accept our apologies as this is not how we handle disagreements at Clear Lake High School.”
