Baseball coaches pick Nevada to win 2022 Mountain West title
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado. – Nevada is set to win the Mountain West baseball title in 2022, based on the vote of the league’s seven head coaches. The Wolf Pack received six first-place votes and 36 points overall, while UNLV are seven points behind with 29 points and the remaining first-place vote.
San Diego State is in third place with 25 points and Fresno State is a close second in fourth place with 23 points. The Air Force (16), New Mexico (11) and San Jose State (7) round out the conference preseason standings.
Nevada, 2021 MW Coach of the Year TJ Bruce, returns 15 winners from a 2021 team that won the Wolf Pack’s third MW regular season title after posting a 22-9 record in conference action. Nevada Returners field three 2021 All-Mountain West selections in the senior infield Tyler Bosetti, junior outfielder Dario Gomez and main outfielder Joshua Zamora.
Nevada’s four all-conference preseason selections were the most in WM, followed closely by UNLV’s three preseason selections.
Mountain West’s 2022 baseball season begins Friday, February 18 with all seven teams in action.
